Other PTA Activities

In addition to the activities directly involving Coolidge students, the PTA has numerous committees and volunteers working behind the scenes to support and advance the Coolidge PTA mission. These activities are listed below in alphabetical order.

Campus Beautification: The Coolidge PTA supplies materials for classroom gardens and participates in landscaping and campus improvement projects enhancing the physical appearance of the campus.

Chatter Newsletter: The Coolidge PTA publishes and distributes The Chatter, a monthly newsletter, which serves as a vital communication link between the school, PTA and parents.

Coolidge Corner/T-Shirts Sales: Coolidge students and their families show pride in their school while wearing Coolidge shirts and sweatshirts.  Coolidge Corner operates at school functions such as Dads Can Cook Pancake Breakfast, the Coolidge Carnival, Association meetings and selected after school days. Cougar wear can also be purchased by submitting an order to the office via the blue folders.

Coolidge Directory: The Coolidge PTA publishes and distributes a school directory to all Coolidge families. In addition to contact information for Coolidge students and their families, the directory includes a school calendar and information about the Coolidge staff and the current year’s PTA Board Members.

Coolidge Yearbook: The Coolidge PTA assembles a beautiful yearbook containing student class pictures and candid photos, giving the students a lasting memory of their school year.

Disaster Preparedness:The Coolidge PTA Coordinates the schools disaster preparedness program, including the maintenance if emergency supply kits for each student and emergency backpacks for each classroom.

Founder’s Day (February): Outstanding parent and teacher involvement, in achieving the PTA mission of helping students reach their fullest potential, is recognized at the annual PTA Awards Ceremony.

Grant Writing, Application and Administration: The Coolidge PTA researches, reviews and applies for grant funds to benefit Coolidge School.

Parent Education: The PTA sponsors informational and educational seminars and activities for Coolidge’s community of parents and caregivers. Topics in the past have included: helping with homework, self-esteem, and discipline.

Room Representative: The 4th Vice-President oversees a committee of parents serving as room representatives in each of the school classrooms. Room representatives serve as the liaisons between the teachers and parents, assisting with class parties and school events such as the Coolidge Carnival.

Teacher Appreciation Week (May): The PTA coordinates five days of activities (before school, during lunch and recess time) during which students and their families can collectively or individually express their appreciation for the incredible work of the Coolidge teachers and staff.

Teacher Grants: The Coolidge PTA administers a grants program for Coolidge teachers. The grants are awarded to proposals having the maximum benefit for the most students.

Teachers’ Holiday Luncheon (December):  Each year, the PTA honors the Coolidge teachers and staff with a festive luncheon during the busy holiday season.
