Welcome to the San Gabriel Unified School District (SGUSD) online New Student Registration!
SGUSD Online New Student Enrollment allows you to begin the enrollment process for students new to the district. This process is currently available for students who have never enrolled or attended any school in the San Gabriel Unified School District.
If your child has previously been enrolled in an SGUSD school or is currently attending school in SGUSD, contact the office of your SGUSD home school for more information. Do not complete the Online Enrollment process.
2015-2016 enrollment is available now.
- Elementary students beginning February 16th, 2016
- Middle and High School students beginning May 2nd, 2016
The online process typically takes 20-30 minutes and requires a valid email address. If you are unable to complete the process in one sitting, you may logout, and resume the process at a later time using your email address and a password you select. To resume data entry of a student, click the Resume entering data button below.
Please note that enrollment is not complete until the online enrollment and residency information has been reviewed and verified and your school determines the entire enrollment process to be complete. After completing this process, parents must schedule a meeting with the school to review information and present required documents.
Information needed to complete online enrollment:
- A valid address in the your school attendance area
- A valid email address.
- Name, address and district of previous school.
- Parent/Guardian's home/work phone and address.
- Name and phone number of emergency contacts.
- Local physician name and phone number.
- Date first enrolled in any USA school.
- Date first enrolled in any California School.
- Date student entered USA (if not born in the USA).
Assigned Neighborhood Schools
Elementary students are assigned to their neighborhood elementary school based on their address. Parents must enroll their student at their neighborhood school. Please check with your closest neighborhood elementary school or call the district office if you are not sure which school your child should attend.
A child who will be 5 years old between September 2 and December 2, 2016 is eligible to be enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten which will be held at Roosevelt Elementary. When enrolling your child, select kindergarten as the grade placement and select your neighborhood school as the school. Your school will forward correct grade placement and enrollment information to Roosevelt.
SGUSD will be offering a kindergarten and 1st grade dual language immersion program where students learn to speak, read and write in English and Spanish. The goal of the program is to have all participating children bilingual and biliterate at the end of elementary school. The Spanish dual immersion program will only be offered at McKinley Elementary School.
If you are interested in having your student attend an elementary school other than your neighborhood school, you may contact your home school of attendance to fill out an Open Enrollment Application. The application must be completed and submitted with required enrollment documents. Open enrollment applications are only accepted through June 2, 2016, the last day of school. Approval is contingent upon space availability.
The Enrollment Process
To begin, click on the “Enroll a Student” button below. You will be asked to provide your residential address. Information about you and your student will also be collected. When finished, you will need to print two (2) copies of a confirmation receipt; one to bring with you to the school and one to keep for yourself.

2016-2017 Registration Verification
Once you have completed the online enrollment process and have collected all required documents, you will need to verify enrollment with your neighborhood school during the following times:
Dates of Enrollment: February 16 – June 10, 2016 and resuming August 1
Times for Enrollment: 8:30 – 11:00 and 1:00 – 3:30
