With a Wild Week Behind Us, Looking to the Future

Our last week at Coolidge together included rainy day schedules, a full moon, and Friday the 13th. That doesn't even include the biggest challenge: school being out due to covid19.
A week later, I am sure that we have all been making adjustments, finding our new normal in a time of social distancing and "safer at home." Just as these new words have entered our lexicon, so have new ways of interacting with the world. I know it has probably been difficult, but we are getting through it. I hope you all have been finding the moments of enjoyment that I and my family have.
I wanted to reach out to you all and let you know about some of the plans that we are going to be moving forward with as a school and district in the coming weeks.
1. Distance Learning will begin on April 6, 2020. Parents and students, if you need, the district will be checking out chrome books (and hotspots when necessary) to all SGUSD families at Roosevelt Elementary School on Wednesday, March 25, from 1:00PM-4:00PM. Please see the superintendent's message for more details regarding state standardized testing, grading, and other items.
2. Daily meal service will continue at Smith Park (except for Spring Break) for all children under 18 from 11:30AM-12:30PM. Please visit the district website for the most up-to-date information.
3. As to when we will be back on campus together, the district will be following the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) very carefully. Updates will be coming after the next SGUSD board meeting.
Most importantly, take care of yourselves, your families, and your loved ones. During these interesting times, the kindness and empathy we show each other are the very actions that will get us through this, together!
