What is the PTA?

The Parent-teacher Association (PTA) is the oldest volunteer association working on children’s and youth issues. In California alone, there are over 1 million PTA members. PTA is a nonpartisan, nonsectarian, and noncommercial organization that promotes the welfare of children and youth in home, school and community. By encouraging communication and cooperation between parents and schools, the PTA ensures that our youth receive the best possible physical, mental and social education. PTA volunteers are leaders and advocates in their schools and communities, working tirelessly for the benefit of all children.
